Adjustamatic Donates Revolutionary Bed to Young Cystic Fibrosis Patient

London, United Kingdom (PRWEB UK) 17 April 2013

Adjustamatic, a leading UK provider of adjustable beds and recliner chairs, recently donated one of their beds to a young boy suffering from Cystic Fibrosis.

Jack Johnstone, aged six, is a sufferer of a severe form of Cystic Fibrosis (CF), the effects of which leave him constantly battling life-threatening infections caused by a build-up of mucus on his chest.

After Adjustamatic heard of Jack’s condition through his family’s fundraising efforts, they donated one of their revolutionary £3,000 beds for free to help save his life.

The bed uses Cyclo-Therapy as a unique form of massage therapy to help people with breathing problems, vibrating at different levels on different areas of Jack’s back to loosen the mucus and cause him to cough it up.

Unlike other forms of therapy that work on a single-plane vibration, Cyclo-Therapy technology has a 3-way vibration that rotates and gently pulsates out from the centre. For respiratory problems such as CF, these gentle vibrations help to gently mobilise any mucus, giving CF sufferers a better chance of expelling it from the lungs and helping with chest clearance.

After one month of sleeping in the bed, Jack’s lung capacity has increased from fifty-nine to sixty-seven percent.

Jack’s mum Tina, 38, said: “Since he has had the bed, Jack’s started clearing it [mucus] from his chest. It’s amazing; it’s actually saving his life.

“We are so grateful. We were trying to raise the money to buy one of the beds for Jack, so it was amazing when they [Adjustamatic] said they wanted to give us one.

“They were touched by Jack after seeing his story. It’s wonderful.”

A spokesperson from Adjustamatic commented: “We had the pleasure of meeting Jack and his family earlier this year, and after seeing how determined they are to improve his quality of life, we were keen to help and were delighted to be able to donate one of our Adjustamatic beds.

“The unique massage from our Cyclo-Therapy technology, which is built into the bed, helps to gently mobilise any mucus, giving Cystic Fibrosis sufferers a better chance of expelling it from the lungs and helping with chest clearance.

“Jack and his family are an inspiration, and we hope we can continue to help them raise awareness about Cystic Fibrosis.”
