Holidays From Ireland – Facts and Figures 2011 From ClickandGo.com

Dublin, Ireland (PRWEB UK) 6 January 2012

Irish people are still going on sun holidays, not nearly as many as in 2007 or 2008, but people are still traveling; a quick look at the load factors for Aer Lingus and Ryanair will validate this. This article looks at the trends seen in the Irish travel company based on figures and facts from ClickandGo.com.

Whilst the number of charter seats is down from 1 million in 2007 to only 300,000 in 2011, that does not show the full picture as most holidaymakers are now travelling to the sun on scheduled airlines like Aer Lingus and booking online with the likes of http://www.ClickandGo.com

The ‘last minute holiday’ market is way down with sun holidays now being planned, budgeted for and booked 9 to 10 weeks in advance.

Of all holiday sectors, ski holidays have been hardest hit; this is evidenced by the withdrawal of Inghams from the Irish market in September 2011 and reduced programmes from the remaining operators.

Recent Trends to note:

Long stay sun holidays – getting away for 2, 3 and 4 months is now a significant factor in winter travel
The over 50’s market make up almost 70% of all winter sun holidaymakers and if they are going for 1, 2 or 3 weeks, they buy 4* hotels on a half board basis
The under 30’s market are particularly responsive to city breaks with prices are under €200 per person
The single biggest growth area is the “all inclusive” sun holiday, which includes all food, drink and entertainment. The reason for the growth in this type of holiday is that you can budget for the total holiday in advance; you really don’t have to spend any more money when on an all inclusive holiday
