How will the new 5% VAT on static caravan sales impact trade?
It was decided last year that the VAT-free static caravans will be a thing of the past. The VAT was originally decided to be a massive 20% but after widespread opposition from MPs, it was dropped to 5%. The 15% reduction should mean that the impact on sales will be minimal. Had the percentage remained at 20%, it is thought that thousands of jobs in the caravan industry would have been at risk. Fortunately, this is not the case and it could actually end up saving money.
