Logica and TaKaDu Form Partnership to Help UK Water Utilities Reduce Water Loss and Increase Efficiency

Yehud, Israel / London, UK (PRWEB) August 09, 2011

Logica, a business and technology service company, and TaKaDu, a world leader in Water Infrastructure Monitoring, announced today they are partnering to offer the UK water industry TaKaDu’s Water Infrastructure Monitoring solution, enabling utilities to reduce water loss and drive efficiency and savings. In the UK, twenty-four water companies manage water distribution networks with a total length of more than 330,000 km. It is estimated that up to 20% of water in these networks is unaccounted for, mainly as a result of leaks in the ageing infrastructure.

By delivering Water Infrastructure Monitoring, Logica and TaKaDu will enable water companies to have greater visibility and control over their networks. The system will enable water companies to identify potential issues, such as leaks, bursts and inefficient operations, so they can fix them sooner. This will enable them to reduce the impact of leaks on customers’ water supply, better plan maintenance, control costs associated with water loss, reduce energy bills and better target capital investment spend. It will also help them meet OFWAT’s leakage target which is particularly important after last year’s harsh winter and the current drought in parts of the east of England, and has the potential to improve companies’ Service Incentive Mechanism scores.

Forbes McKay, Logica’s UK Utilities Propositions Lead, commented, “At Logica we’re always looking for innovative technology that helps our customers reduce their costs, improve customer service and operate more sustainably. The TaKaDu solution, which is hosted in the cloud, has the potential to do all of these things for water networks in the UK with low up-front costs. We’re delighted to be partnering with them to market, supply and support their solution.”

Amir Peleg, TaKaDu’s Founder and CEO, said, “We are excited to work with Logica in the UK market. This market is one of the early adopters of our solution, with many advanced utilities that are quickly realizing that Water Infrastructure Monitoring can help them meet their targets and save money. In this strategic market, Logica’s reach, customer service and integration capabilities can ensure utilities develop the systems and processes to make the insight from Water Infrastructure Monitoring into actionable knowledge, so they can prioritize work, save water, energy and become more efficient.”
