Nastel’s Partnership with CloudPrime Provides Businesses with Best-of-breed Monitoring and Management of their Middleware Estate as it Expands to the Cloud

Monitor Middleware from the Datacenter to the Cloud, to the Branch

Melville, NY (PRWEB) July 06, 2011

Nastel Technologies, a premier global provider of business transaction performance solutions for mission-critical applications spanning the distributed, mainframe and cloud tiers, today announced the availability of AutoPilot® for Cloud SaaS Edition powered by CloudPrime‘s cloud messaging service. With this partnership, using software as a service (SaaS) Nastel customers can be assured of high performance of their cloud applications and alert IT about issues before users are impacted.

The recent string of high-profile cloud outages demonstrated a painful reality about cloud computing: service providers have not adequately anticipated – or prepared – for these types of problems. Today’s complex IT environments require enterprises to anticipate cloud and system outages by proactively managing their infrastructure before impact from these outages can occur.

Organizations are under intense pressure to save money through consolidation, making Cloud computing particularly attractive. Its on-demand architecture allows organizations to consolidate infrastructure and optimize their resources while at the same time extending functionality and reach without incurring additional capital expenses. The key business drivers for Cloud computing are to move capital expenses to operational expenses and to improve ease of configuration and administration to realize additional savings. Using CloudPrime middleware as a service coupled with Nastel’s monitoring and management, organizations will receive the quality of a large data center installation with far lower initial costs and a decrease in the demands placed on their IT staff.

“During the past two decades (1990 to 2010), message-oriented middleware (MOM) and other forms of messaging played an increasing role in facilitating communication between diverse applications running on a wide range of computing platforms,” said W. Roy Schulte, Gartner analyst. “Now, with the ever-increasing bandwidth and global reach of the Internet, as well as the emergence of cloud computing, it is not surprising that messaging is moving into the cloud environment.”

”Cloud computing was born out of the businesses need to do more with less, paying for value rather than operational costs. At the same time businesses are beginning to move into a new growth stage with a need to create additional services, attract new customers, and extend their reach,” said Charley Rich, VP Product Management at Nastel Technologies. “But, not all applications will move completely to the cloud. There are a percentage of business-critical applications that require the highest performance, have the most sensitive information and complexity of process. These applications will use a hybrid-model of cloud services that bridge the datacenter, branch offices, trading partners and utilize a cloud service provider or broker to interconnect them.”

“Our integration with CloudPrime gives customers the combination of a subscription based service to extend their applications to more locations, bridging disparate message systems and a single point of control over all middleware in the datacenter and cloud. For businesses to grow and prosper, they need the reassurance that the mission-critical applications in which they have heavily invested are performing as they were designed. This integration will provide that reassurance.”

“Cloud-based services are popular among both small and large organizations for the flexibility and cost savings it provides,” said Bob Miller, CEO at CloudPrime. “However, these organizations, no matter their size, rely heavily on applications to drive the success of their business. Without the ability to monitor the most critical components of their applications, they are blind to the performance of those applications. The integration with AutoPilot will now provide the monitoring necessary to witness that performance and prevent problems before they impact users.”

How the Nastel and CloudPrime Solution Works

There are three types of AutoPilot deployment models for this solution. The first type of deployment provides self-service access to WebSphere MQ (WMQ) stakeholders in the enterprise who ordinarily do not have access to WMQ data. AutoPilot is deployed in the cloud enabling entitled users with self-service access to WMQ data on their own servers via a web-portal and a standard web browser without any software being installed.

The second AutoPilot deployment model provides monitoring assurance for the CloudPrime messaging infrastructure and is deployed at CloudPrime.

The third type of AutoPilot deployment model supports customer applications using middleware messaging that remain in the datacenter. The customer’s middleware messages securely flow through the Cloud and can be routed to other applications in the customer’s datacenter, to their branch offices or to their trading partner’s datacenters. AutoPilot monitors the availability and performance of the middleware and using its built-in Complex Event Processing engine provides a closed-loop process to prevent the impact of problems. This ensures the optimization of business processes, prevention of problem impact, and reduction in failures. All three deployment models can work together providing a single point of control, both management and monitoring of middleware across the datacenter, the cloud and the branch locations.

Other benefits AutoPilot for Cloud SaaS Edition powered by CloudPrime provides organizations:

Elastic Application Performance Management (APM), allowing their monitoring needs to scale as the middleware they monitor grows
    Zero installation
No software license, customers pay a monthly charge for usage
    Self-service monitoring
