Simple Lighting Responds to Proposed Scottish Plans to Make 100 Per Cent of Streetlights LED

(PRWEB UK) 21 June 2013

According to Lighting.co.uk in an article published on the 19th June 2013, Scotland has proposed to replace its streetlights with LED bulbs through a £3 billion funding pot funded by the Green Investment Bank for sustainable projects. The scheme would make energy savings of 60 per cent by replacing traditional incandescent bulbs with low energy consumption and long life LED bulbs. In turn this is expected to save millions, even billions over a prolonged period of time.

The country’s environment minister Richard Lochead added:

“I have no doubt it will not be long until there is a significant Scottish GIB investment announcement. (This) could lead to potential cost reductions in the region of £900 million.”

The news is welcomed by LED specialists Simple Lighting Company who have been highlighting the importance of changing to LED bulbs for many years. A spokesperson for the expert team added:

“We believe that the Scottish government has taken the correct steps to running a more cost effective and energy efficient country by replacing traditional bulbs with LEDs. Although this will of course cost a great sum of money it will also save a huge amount in the long run.”
