More about Mind

Mind assists those with mental health problems, providing support and advice to those who seek it. They advocate for individuals who suffer from mental health issues to be treated with respect and they wish to empower sufferers, seeking to improve services, promote understanding and raise awareness. Mind helps people to take control over their mental health. They provide information, advice, training programmes, grants and services through local Mind associations. Their ultimate aim is to help those with metal health problems experience full and active lives.

At a local level, Mind provides services and support to more than 250,000 people every year. Nationally, Mind campaigns for rights of those affected by mental health problems. Examples of Mind’s campaigns are their constant fight to protect the interests of people on benefits with mental health problems and seeking to amend the Health & Social Care bill as it passes through Parliament.

Mind helps those that are left feeling neglected, rejected and alone. Many sufferers admit to being coerced, abused, restrained and traumatised. Mind seeks to channel these emotions into positivity. Their website is a very useful resource for those going through difficult times, or for those that wish to know more about certain conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress, abuse or self-harm, to help their friends and family cope with their mental state.

Their website also provides helpful information on rights and legislation in relation to mental health disorders. Alternatively, Mind has an ‘infoline’ or helpline for help and advice. They can be reached on 0300 123 3393 or at info(at)mind(dot)org(dot)uk. For legal advice, ring 0300 466 6463.

Mind suggests that there are currently 1 in 6 workers experiencing depression, anxiety or stress- a significant proportion employees and customers. To help manage mental health in the workplace, consider using their coaching and training services.

How can you ensure a good mental condition?

Research demonstrates that more active individuals have lower rates of depression and anxiety and have a greater sense of well-being. Even simple activities like walking in the local park, or doing some gentle outdoor exercise can improve mental states. Incorporating these activities into weekly routines should prove effective.

Find someone supportive and understanding to speak to and voice any problems. Feel free to call the friendly people at Mind to discuss any concerns. Once again, the number is 0300 123 3393.

Please consider donating to Mind by buying The Giving Card, which includes a £10 donation to Mind whilst receiving fantastic discounts on a range of industries for the whole year. To buy The Giving Card, click here.
